Virtual Forum on Use of Local Impact Funds in West Loop

The Department of Planning and Development (DPD) will co-host a virtual community webinar this month with 27th Ward Alderman Walter Burnett Junior, the West Loop Community Organization (WLCO), West Central Association (WCA), and the Neighbors of the West Loop (NOWL) to get feedback on community priorities for yet unused Local Impact Funds in the West Loop neighborhood.

Local Impact Funds account for 10% of all local Neighborhood Opportunity Fund payments. Those payments occur when developers build taller and wider structures and is calculated by a DPD formula. Local Impact funds must be used for public works projects in the same area, and DPD makes the decision on the allocation of these funds in consultation with local aldermen. More information about the NOF can be found at neighborhoodopportunityfund.com.

The meeting will take place on Zoom at 6PM on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.

A draft of the presentation for the September 22 meeting will be posted on the city’s website ahead of time. A community survey is also open seeking feedback through Sunday, October 10, 2021.

Members of the public are invited to email questions for the meeting ahead of time to DPD@cityofchicago.org or ward27@cityofchicago.org. Please send all questions by 5PM on Monday, September 20. Other questions and comments can always be sent to dpd@cityofchicago.org, and you can reach out to us here at WLCO by writing to info@westloop.org.
