Where You Can Still Get Vaccinated
As of last week, the United Center began offering drive-thru vaccinations of the Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines only. As Chicago begins to close up its mass vaccination sites in favor of more targeted outreach, we wanted to take a moment to share resources with anyone who has not yet received their immunization.
All City of Chicago-operated sites accept walk-ins. Appointments are preferred but not required, and can be made at Zocdoc.com/vaccine. Chicagoans age 12-18 are now able to receive vaccination at all City of Chicago sites offering Pfizer vaccine. Individuals under the age of 18 seeking vaccination at the United Center need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
In addition to receiving a vaccine at a large site like the United Center, you can:
Contact your health care provider, including your primary care provider, health clinic, or hospital where you have gotten medical care in the past. Nearly 650 local health care providers have signed up with Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) to distribute vaccine.
The City of Chicago has provided vaccines to pharmacies across Chicago. These pharmacies each have their own registration options: Walmart (call 833-886-0023), Mariano’s, Walgreens, Jewel Osco, and Costco.
Employers are encouraged to host onsite vaccination events for their employees. Ask them directly about upcoming opportunities to get vaccinated. Employer resources can be found here.
Some jurisdictions have expanded their eligibility to Chicagoans. Appointments are available across Illinois and Cook County: Cook County Health, ILVaccine.org, COVID-19 Vaccine Spotter, Illinois Vaccine Alert (Twitter).
Vaccination locations sometimes have unused, extra doses of COVID vaccine they must either use or throw out. Providers may alert Chicagoans to the availability of unused doses through various methods. Dr. B is a standby list for available end-of-day vaccine doses.
Vaccines.gov is a free, online service where users can search for pharmacies and providers that offer vaccination. Information about where COVID-19 vaccines are available is provided directly by pharmacies and providers, in collaboration with states, and is updated daily. Search vaccines.gov, text your ZIP code to 438829, or call 1-800-232-0233 to find locations near you.
If you have insurance but do not have a primary care provider, please check with your insurance company for a list of providers accepting new patients. If you do not have insurance, one option is to enroll with one of Chicago’s many Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). Download the FQHC flyers in English and Spanish.
If you have lost your vaccination card and want to request your vaccination records, please complete the online form at https://redcap.link/izrequestform. For other vaccine-related questions, please email covid19vaccine@cityofchicago.org.
